Missions
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even until the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20
Oswald Smith said “any church that is not seriously involved in helping fulfill the Great Commission has forfeited its biblical right to exist”.
The Eternal Purpose of God
“The eternal purpose of God is to call out from every kindred, tongue, people, and nation, a multitude redeemed by the blood of His Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world, over whom He will crown His Son, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, King of kings and Lord of lords forever.
This is the passion of the heart of God that cannot be quenched, the obsession of His mind that cannot be denied, the vision of His eye that cannot grow dim, and the destination to which He has committed His omnipotent, immutable, eternal being: a destination He will not abandon.”
-Darrell Champlin
At Roanoke Island Baptist Church, we believe strongly in supporting Missionaries, both on the foreign field and here in the United States. Our Missions Program is totally funded by Faith Promise on the part of our members. RIBC has been a part of Faith Promise since 1993 when, under Pastor John Charles, we had our first Missions Conference. This is an annual event, held in spring. During this time, we have missionaries visit with us from Wednesday through Sunday night; some of these are missionaries we already support, bringing us up to date on their ministry while others are missionaries on deputation seeking to raise their support. Missions Conference is a great time of fellowship and being in God’s Word. It ends on Sunday with our members making their Faith Promise pledge for the coming year.
